ICF Cleveland Recognizes Award Recipient

For Immediate Release

Cleveland, Ohio – The International Coaching Federation (ICF) Cleveland Chapter announces its recipient for the 2018 Organization of the Year Award. The Cleveland Clinic was chosen to receive this prestigious award for its incredible internal coaching program and the contributions the Cleveland Clinic internal coaching program is making to the proliferation of coaching both locally and around the world. Already in 2018 they have doubled the number of internal coaches.

At Cleveland Clinic, The Global Leadership and Learning Institute was formally established in 2017 to provide leaders across the organization with coaching within three domains: new and transitioning leaders, development of leaders, and performance of leaders. They bring the experience and expertise to understand each leader’s situation and apply an industry approach to coaching that aligns the needs of the organization with the needs of the leader. Their roster includes coaches certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Just in November, these coaches were able to coach international executives from other health systems in partnership with The Cleveland Clinic Samson Academy.

Additionally, coaching for Cleveland Clinic is operated through the Center of Excellence in Coaching and Mentoring (CECM) which was established in 2009 and focuses on physician coaching. Currently, CECM has trained over 1,100 participants in coaching principles and has over 200 active peer coaches since its inception, with curriculum that reinforces ICF core competencies. Participant results have shown significant increases in job satisfaction, resilience and engagement for both those peer coaching as well as those receiving coaching. CECM provides internal coach training and advance coach training to equip physicians with coaching skills to advance the coaching culture at the Cleveland Clinic.

The Cleveland Clinic was chosen to receive this award for its commitment to professional coaching. The Cleveland Clinic provides the opportunity for coaching throughout its organization and has implemented coaching into its culture.

The Cleveland Clinic is currently ranked as the number 2 hospital in the country by U.S. News and World Report (2017-2018).
